On April 23, 2026, the South Bay Coalition to End Homelessness hosted the SPA 8 – Harbor Gateway Connect Day at 11500 Figueroa Street in Los Angeles, made possible through the generous support of Supervisor Holly J. Mitchell's LA County 2nd District office.
Over 154 individuals experiencing housing insecurity came out to access services from 39 community-based agencies and government partners. The event provided mental health support, health screenings, legal services, employment assistance, housing resources, and social service enrollments — with nearly 300 service connections made on the day. Nine pallets of fresh produce were distributed, approximately 100 volunteers showed up to help, and the event received coverage from Fox LA. Supervisor Mitchell attended personally.
